Slate Floor Tiling
This lounge with an inglenook fireplace was screaming out for some Slate Floor Tiling.
My customers wanted a stone floor that complimented their period thatched farmhouse.
They chose this Indian slate from Topps Tiles.
I installed 10mm insulation boards with a warmup underfloor heating mat.
I then screeded with 15 bags of flexible self leveller.
Then the slate was laid and grouted using only flexible adhesive and grout.
The tiles were sealer with LTP Mattstone sealer.
Why choose Slate Floor Tiling ?
Natural slate has the ability to bring a unique and powerful beauty to any floor.
There are so many colours and types available, the choice is endless.
However, there are both benefits, and drawbacks to the use of this material.
Slate Floor Tiling Pros
Durability: One of the strongest natural stone flooring materials, slate has an inherent durability that makes it resistant to cracks, scratches, breaks, and chips. It does have to be sealed against stains on a regular basis.
Value: Slate is considered to be an upmarket flooring material. While its initial cost can be high, it does have the ability to add value to a home. This is especially true when installing in locations such as bathrooms and kitchens.
